New Tab Screen for Firefox?

by bananalope on Aug.26, 2008, under Geekdom, Tech

I found this today while perusing through my feed reader. Aza’s got some interesting ideas on what should happen when you open a new tab in Firefox. His ideas are pretty well thought out, like place a search bar in the empty tab window, including results from your awesome bar, contextual actions (did you just copy an address? let me show you a map), and showing sites you routinely visit.

Usually when I’m opening a new tab, it’s through middle clicking a link to open in a new tab. I do think the search box will be handy, though. If I use the search bar at the top, I most always want the results in a new tab anyways. I’m all for making the browser smarter, something that learns how you use it and becomes optimized for YOUR workflow.
